Get Fit Kaua‘i, one of Kauai Path’s most active collaborating organizations, works with the County to calm traffic in the vicinity of Kilauea Elementary School and coordinate Walk to School days. Additionally, as of 2024, plans are in process to widen the shared use path along Lighthouse Road. The Princeville community boasts multi-use paths along Ka Haku Road and bikeable neighborhood streets. Kauai Path and residents studied possible bicycling and walking infrastructure to connect North Shore communities. Our most ambitious undertaking resulted in the North Shore Path Alternatives Report.

The project began in 2008 when Landmark Consulting Services was hired to provide formal planning services for the North Shore Path. After several years of gathering community input, the North Shore Path Alternatives Report was published in 2012. The project has been dormant since then, though we are hopeful that it will regain community support and continue.
