A two mile long stretch of Ke Ala Hele Makalae between Kapaa and Kealia was opened February 15, 2008 for public enjoyment, is mostly complete, and getting heavy use.
Dr. Randy Blake and Thomas Noyes visited the incomplete Northern section of Ke Ala Hele Makalae (about 1.8 miles) and submitted these pics.
The Northern section of Ke Ala Hele Makalae between Kealia Beach and Kumukumu Stream has been gated and fenced off for several months while the contractor has been doing grading and spreading base course.
The new smoothed alignment will soon be paved with asphalt. Paving is scheduled to beging August 25, 2008, and should be completed this September.
The rest pavilion at the Pineapple Dump is complete.
